"The Majestic Name of Jesus" - Devotion
Jesus. What a beautiful and majestic name! There is power in His incredible name, that simply by confessing it we command all things below earth, on earth and in heaven. The name of Jesus is to be honored and glorified above all else.
Many people today use our beloved Prince's name as a curse and desecrate it. This is a sin! If His name is spoken in frustration or anger or mockery or any other way that does not bring Him glory and praise it is a sin. Television and movies are full of profanity, and for Christians to listen to these words spoken about our Beloved is to pollute our minds and spirits. Jesus cannot dwell within us when we allow our inner sanctuaries to become a garbage heap of worldly sin. Where is He going to sit? On a chair of profanity? On a couch of idolatry? On a floor of lust?
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says, "Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are."
If our beautiful Lover dwells within us then we must prepare a place of sanctuary and love for Him. Our first task is to take out the garbage. This is accomplished through prayer. Spend some time alone in your room; close the door, put on soft worship music, whatever you need to do to feel intimate and alone with your Prince. Write a list of all the things in your life that you can think of, past and present, which have inhibited your growing intimacy with your Lover. Pray over each item on the list individually. Ask Jesus to wash away all guilt, shame, heartache or sin which has pervaded your life in the past and present. Cry out in the precious name of Jesus and He will answer. He is willing to answer your call and, once clean, enter into the beautiful, new sanctuary that you have created for Him. This is His heart's desire, to be close to you, His princess, His gem, and to take you in His arms and lovingly hold you and sing songs of love to you but He can't do it alone, it's a relationship which involves both you and Christ.
Decide today to not be a part of the world that curses your Prince's sweet
name. Live for Him alone. Proclaim His mighty name and tell those around
you of His tender love and kindness. His name is above all other names,
that at the sound of His name every knee bows, and every tongue confesses
that Jesus Christ IS Lord!
